The almogrote is a product of the island of La Gomera and one of the jewels of its gastronomy. Similar to a pâté, it is made with cured cheese, pepper and oil, giving it a tasty and slightly spicy flavor, ideal to be accompanied with bread or potatoes.
The almogrote arises as a result of the use of the pieces of cheese that remained hard and is a unique experience that every visitor to the island must try. The cheese used to make almogrote is generally goat cheese and its origins date back to the most remote island history, starting from a Sephardic recipe, making almogrote a true gastronomic jewel due to the excellence of its intense flavor and also for its local character and its traditional and artisanal production.
